Fab Lab Brno has opened in the South Moravian Innovation Center (JIC) in Brno. Organizers explained to Czech Radio that the purpose of the lab is to provide a sort of co-working space with new generation production equipment. But it should also serve to educate local businesses about cutting edge technologies by offering weekly tours led by qualified staff and mentors. Members of Fab Lab will be able to make use of equipment like 3D printers robots, drones and cutting lasers. Jiří Hudeček, director of the South Moravian Innovation Center located in the Brno Technology Park, says the equipment cost CZK 3m in total. Brno mayor Petr Vokřál officially opened the lab, whose main partner is the Brno branch of Honeywell. The center is part of an international network of 1,100 Fab Labs.
