According to the Estonian Land Board real estate in the country remained the most expensive of the three Baltic states in 2017. According to Johannes Nõupuu, a specialist at the country's Land Board this is not a surprise because "If we compare the average gross monthly wage, which is also the highest in Estonia, the higher price of real estate here is understandable." The average price per sqm of apartments was highest in Tallinn at €1,752, followed by Vilnius with €1,615. By comparison, the highest price in Latvia is to be found in the seaside town of Jurmala, where the price was €1,100. In Riga, apartments sell for just €913. Prices increased during 2017 in all three three states.
