The European Investment Bank will provide €100m to fund a section of the Nis-Merdare motorway in southern Serbia. The funding will go toward the stretch between Nis and Plocnik, which also provides a direct link to Albania's capital city Tirana. The bank will also provide €40m for infrastructure upgrades along migrant routes throughout Serbia.
Since 2001, EIB has provided Serbia with €3.2bn in total funding.
