Hungary’s residential market started off 2019 strong, with prices continuing to rise and the number of transactions on par with 2017 levels. Housing in some of Budapest’s downtown districts are set to hit HUF 800,000 per sqm in the coming months, according to Duna House Barometer. The average price for a unit in one of the capital’s prefab housing blocks increased by HUF 5m y-o-y in January, while prices along the countryside grew between HUF 3m to HUF 4m compared to the previous year.
