The Czech state is planning begin or complete 145 major transportation projects, an investment of CZK 233bn. Of that total, roughly two-thirds will be spent on highways and motorways, with most of the remainder to be devoted to railways. The Ministry of Transportation, which has come under fire for failing to expand the country's network of motorways, says it will open another 23.5 kilometers this year. However, the ministry is warning that while its budget for this year of CZK 86.3bn should suffice, the planned budgets for 2020 and 2021 will not be enough.
