Czech construction up 10.4% over last year

Year-on-year construction output may have slowed in October, but it was only to 10.4 percent from 11.8 percent in September. According to the Czech Statistics Office the 3,600 flats completed in October nationwide is one of the biggest results recorded in the past 10 years. Looking forward, Czech construction offices issued 7,603 construction permits in October, which was 2 percent less than October 2017, while the estimated value of the projects connected with those permits fell by 1.8 percent to CZK 36.3bn. Similarly, the number of housing starts fell by 1.7 percent to 2,780 units. The average wage for construction workers in companies with 50 and more employees stood at CZK 39,743 in October, 11.3 percent more than a year ago.
