Construction of the first IKEA store in Latvia has now been completed. The store, which just outside Riga contains over 35,000 sqm of space, making it the largest IKEA store in the Baltics and one of the largest built in Latvia this year. Work on the 10.5 hectare site was carried out by UPB and took a little over a year to complete. To finance construction of the store, the developer Verus Pradium took out a €35.4m loan from SEB Banka Latvia. IKEA is now looking for more than 100 people to work at the store, which is due to open this fall. Founded in 1943, IKEA now operates over 400 stores in almost 50 countries around the world.
