Of the ten people charged with criminal negligence connected with the collapse of a bridge during its reconstruction in 2014, just one is going to jail. The construction foreman of the company Bogl & Krysl will spend the next four years in jail. Four workers died in the accident, despite the fact that the crew had warned their boss that the structure's supports were moving. It was found that the work was not carried out as required by the construction documentation. It's believed that too much ground was removed near one of the bridge's pillars, leading to the bridge's collapse. Strabag, along with Bogl & Krysl and the project's labor safety coordinator were fined CZK 1.5m after the accident. Hundreds of older bridges are currently in need of reconstruction across the country.
