Slovakia's government led by prime minister Robert Fico has no intention of resigning or giving way for early elections in the wake of the murder of an investigative journalist. The country's political landscape has been thrown into chaos because of strong indications that the journalist was killed in retribution for his work on corruption scandals involving high-placed government officials. At least one of the coalition partners in the government is planning to withdraw from government and Slovakia's president Andrej Kiska has said public trust in the political systém has collapsed and that the best solution would be either a government re-organization or early elections. Prime minister Fico later accused the president of taking his inspiration to unseat the government with the American billionaire George Soros.
