Travelers Hotel Group broke ground on a 120-room Comfort Inn & Suites in Miami Springs, Florida. The eight-story building is going up near Miami International Airport. Hotel amenities will include a fitness room, meeting space, a business center and an expanded marketplace for snacks, beverages and personal items. Once completed next summer, it will be the third hotel in a three-block radius that Travelers Hotel Group owns and operates, totaling close to 500 rooms. Aztec Group arranged a $15.2m construction loan.

“We’re delivering a fresh product to the limited-service market at the airport,” said Steven Marin, principal at Travelers Hotel Group, which acquires, develops and manages hospitality properties in South Florida. “We feel this category is underserved as most of the new hotels here are select-service. We want this hotel to be more than just a place for travelers to hang their hats overnight. We designed it so they will feel comfortable coming out of their rooms and enjoy themselves in our common areas.”
