New car sales fell 23.6 percent over the first seven months of 2020 to 114,799 vehicles, with July's sales 14.45 percent lower than they were in the same month last year. The figures were released by the Car Importers Association (SDA), which noted that the top selling brand was Skoda, which sold 44,191 cars, or 38.5 percent marketshare. It was followed by Hyundai with 9,372 cars sold and VW, which sold 8,954. "The recovery of the vehicle market is extremely gradual," wrote the SDA. The most popular make for 2020 was, traditionally, Skoda's Octavia (12,304 were sold) followed by the Fabia, with 9,817 sales. The biggest seller that isn't part of the Skoda brand was Hyundai's Tuscon, with 2,440 sales.
