Belgrade, October 18th, 2018 - Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesić and CEO of MPC Properties Ingo Nissen officially laid a foundation stone at the construction site of a new shopping center on the corner of Vojislava Ilića St. and Mis Irbijeve St. with over 43,000 square meters of sales space and a total built area of 130,000 m2. The new shopping center will uplift and enhance the surrounding neighborhood which is in exceptional need of a modern shopping destination. The project is a joint venture of MPC Properties, the largest investor in the region of South-East Europe and Atterbury Europe, focused on shopping centre investments and retail development opportunities in Europe. In all, the project will require an investment of more than 110 million euros.
The opening ceremony of the new shopping center is planned for the spring of 2020. Thanks to this investment, over 150 international and regional brands will enrich this part of Belgrade. In addition to the location, the new shopping center will be remarkable for its innovative concept which follows the latest global trends in retail with multiple open areas, generous amounts of natural light and greenery, all designed to provide consumers with maximum comfort for shopping and relaxing. The modern design of the building is the work of the well-known international design office Chapman Taylor based in Dusseldorf, Germany.
“MPC Properties has been present on the market for more than 16 years and sets the highest standards of construction and development of shopping and business destinations. UŠĆE Shopping Center, developed and managed by MPC Properties is the leader in shopping center category and the best shopping center in the region, representing the ultimate shopping destination. By analyzing the market and following global trends, we have determined that this is the ideal moment to offer a quality, comprehensive and modern retail concept in a location that lacks a modern shopping destination. The shopping center will feature a specially created tenant mix, with well-known international and regional names, from fashion and sports brands, cinema to supermarket and a rich offer of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. It is our utmost pleasure to inform you that on the day of laying the foundation stone, more than 60% of sales premises have been leased, which speaks for itself about the location. I also have to express my gratitude to the city administration for another exceptional example of cooperation and the speed of acquiring all necessary permits, which will hopefully continue in the future,” said Ingo Nissen, CEO of MPC Properties.
“As co-developers Atterbury Europe is thrilled by the start of construction of this state of the art shopping centre alongside MPC. Belgrade is an exciting city with tremendous growth potential and it is our privilege to be part of this exciting development whereby an abandoned industrial site can be transformed into a place of relaxation and enjoyment for residents,” explains Raoul de Villiers, Director of Developments for Atterbury Europe.
The new shopping center is the latest in a series of investments by MPC Properties, well-known as the owner of the largest shopping center in the region - UŠĆE Shopping Center, Mercator Center Belgrade, and the Ušće Tower I and II, Navigator Business Center I and II business centers. This investment will unify the expertise and rich experience the company has, as well as incorporate the latest global trends in the retail industry. The new shopping center on the corner of Vojislava Ilića St. and Mis Irbijeve St. will be managed by Confluence Property Management.
