The Spanish hotel group Barcelo Group has opened Barcelo Budapest located in Kiraly utca, District 6. The opening is based on the conclusion of a 25-year tenancy deal with developer Sunbelt Group, which is owned by Hungarian investors. Work on the renovated facility started in 2017, including the addition of a 7th and 8th floor. The general contractor for the HUF 15bn investment was Europroperty Zrt. The hotel offers 179 rooms and those on roof have large terraces and view of the city. It has bar, buffet restaurant, facilities for events, fitness studio open 24h.
Zsombor Török, co-owner of Sunbelt said the Barceló Budapest project was its second successful hotel project in downtown Budapest, following the opening in 2018 of Exe Danube on Asbóth utca in District 7. Exe Danube is operated by Hotusa Group, a member of the Eurostars Hotel Company, while the property itself was sold to a German pension fund. Sunbelt plans three more hotels in Budapest.
