Spain's industrial sector consumer 24 percent less electricity in April thanks to the lock down imposed to halt the spread of the coronavirus. Red Eléctrica de España- REE recorded the historic collapse, a trend that began in March when industrial consumption fell 7.6 percent. The services sector used 11 percent less in April, while the overall figure nationwide was 8.2 percent. In April, this overall figure ballooned to a 22.8 percent falloff, while in services the figure was slightly higher at 23.7 percent. But it was the automotive sector within industry that told the real story, as electricity consumption was down by more than 75 percent.
