Austria's chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that tourism in Austria will gradually ramp up from May 29 as planned. Border openings to countries that have the crisis under control as well as Austria does will be given priority. This primarily affects Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.

Chamber of Commerce President Harald Mahrer said that in the hotels and tourist regions, employees should be tested extensively to ensure coronavirus does not take hold again. Up to 65,000 employees are to be tested for infection by the beginning of July in a program being funded by the federal government.
