The first phase of a new cargo handling facility was opened at Budapest Airport. The investment is valued at €50m. BUD Cargo City includes a 21,200 sqm warehouse and office facility as well as an 11,650 sqm freight forwarding building. Construction broke ground in September 2018. The project is part of the airport’s €160m development program. The new facility will increase the airport’s cargo capacity to 250,000 tons annually. “Our position in the region is becoming stronger regarding passengers as well as air freight, which is also supported by the BUD Cargo City opening today.” said Budapest Airport CEO Rolf Schnitzler
