Members of the Slovak parliament's economic committee will be investigating progress on the Bratislava motorway by-pass after reports emerged that contaminated materials are being used in construction work. The committee's chairwoman Jana Kissova demanded that all relevant people involved in the construction and its management would be called upon to attend the hearings after the ministry of transportation was unable to deny the suspicions in a reliable manner. She said the by-pass is needed but that it has to be built in harmony with the law of the country and without endangering the environment. "It's an enormous investment and it would be extremely bad if we waited until the end and then we found out that dangerous materials were used," said deputy Miroslav Ivan.
