Dwelling constructions falls in Poland in first five months of 2020

There were less dwellings completed in Poland in the first five months of 2020 compared to the year before. The number of dwellings with permits in place or that have been registered with a construction project also decreased between January and May. According to preliminary data posted by the Central Statistical Office (GUS), 79,800 dwellings were completed between January and May, down 0.3 percent from a year earlier. Developers completed 52,000 dwellings, 4.4 percent more than in the corresponding period of 2019, whereas private investors completed 26,500 dwellings, 6.4 percent less than in 2019. Less dwellings than a year ago were completed within cooperative construction. In other forms of construction like municipal, public building society and company construction, 837 dwellings were completed in total, compared to 1,106 in the previous year, according to GUS.
